A magnetic paper towel holder can free up counter space, but a good fit depends on more than finding a metal-looking surface. Before choosing one, check the surface, the roll and the space needed to use it comfortably.
1. Test the exact mounting surface
Try a household magnet on the spot where you want to place the holder. A refrigerator door, side panel and nearby cabinet can be made from different materials, so test the intended location rather than assuming the whole appliance behaves the same way.
Some stainless steel surfaces are not magnetic. A magnetic holder will not attach directly to wood, glass, plastic or aluminum. Passing a small-magnet test is a useful first check, but it does not establish the holder's load capacity or guarantee that it will stay in place during use.
Look for a clean, dry, flat area where each support can sit fully against the surface. A curve, raised edge or handle can prevent the bases from making proper contact.
2. Measure a full roll
Use a new roll of the paper towels you normally buy when checking fit. A nearly empty roll can make a cramped position look more generous than it really is.
- Roll width: Check the space between the supports and the usable mounting area.
- Roll diameter: Allow room for the fullest part of the roll to turn without rubbing against the appliance or nearby objects.
- Core opening: Confirm that the holder's arms can fit into the cardboard tube.
- Changing space: Leave enough room to take the empty tube out and put a new roll in.
Adjustable spacing can help with roll width, but it does not automatically mean that every jumbo roll or tube size will fit. If the product listing does not specify a critical limit, ask before ordering.
3. Choose a position that works with your routine
Think about where you usually reach for paper towels: near your prep area, beside the sink or at a cleanup station. The best position keeps them accessible without obstructing appliance handles, doors or walkways.
Check the area with the refrigerator door both open and closed. Leave room for your hand to reach the loose end of the roll. If you are considering vertical placement, confirm that the particular holder supports that orientation.

4. Check what a two-piece holder actually includes
The Orvixio Two-Piece Magnetic Paper Towel Holder uses two separate magnetic supports that can be positioned to suit the roll width. It is designed for horizontal or vertical placement on suitable flat, magnet-compatible metal surfaces, without drilling.
The product includes the two support pieces; the paper towel roll and other accessories shown are not included. Its current specifications do not state a maximum roll diameter, a core-opening range or a tested load limit. Do not treat its overall dimensions as confirmation that a particular roll will fit.
5. Check stability before regular use
Follow the product's installation instructions. With both bases sitting flat, insert the roll and check that it turns freely and the supports remain stable during normal use. If a base shifts or the roll catches, stop and reassess the surface, spacing and fit.
Do not assume that a magnetic holder provides one-handed tearing unless the product information specifically supports that claim. The mounting surface and the way the roll is used both matter.
A quick check before you order
- Does a magnet attach to the exact surface you intend to use?
- Can both supports sit flat without crossing an edge or curve?
- Have you checked a full roll's width, diameter and tube opening?
- Is there room to reach the roll, replace it and open nearby doors?
- Have you confirmed any missing fit or load information?
If a measurement is unclear, contact Orvixio with your intended surface and roll dimensions before buying. A few measurements can help you choose a useful place for the holder and avoid an unsuitable fit.
